Bellaghy House
This design responds to rural vernacular traditions employed for stepping site topography. Two narrow blocks have been positioned perpendicular to each other to define separate building uses, establish privacy and ensure a pragmatic yet engaging architectural solution.
Two narrow-plan linear blocks have been arranged perpendicular to one another. The larger mono pitch block steps to the lower level, contains the main living areas and addresses the countryside views to the west. The stepped arrangement provided enhanced privacy for building users. Rendered walls with strategically placed openings frame countryside views.
A mono pitched gable, reinforcing typical Irish rural forms. The restrained material palette—white masonry, slate, painted timber windows are tied together through refined detailing to create an appropriate response to both client brief and landscape context.
